A Man, in a Sloth Mask, on a Quest.
I'm a man, clad in a sloth mask, embarking on a quest to be a Freelance Mascot for libraries, communities & beyond, whether they want me to or not.
Why I want to be your Freelance Mascot
To loudly celebrate the places that need to be celebrated.
Libraries, community spaces, hidden gems that make people feel welcome. I'm here to make sure they get the recognition they deserve.
The Freelance Mascot Rules of Awesomeness
Three rules that I made up as I go
I Visit
I go in quietly as a regular customer with my mask off and just try to blend in.
I Observe
I notice the small things — the kind of details that say, this place actually cares.
I Award Only Five Stars
If a place earns it, I say so, publicly. If it does not, I say nothing at all.
— The five star philosophy —
"Some heroes carry swords. I carry five stars."
No one-stars. No two-stars. No public take-downs of someone's bad Tuesday. Only the loud, public, on-the-record acknowledgement of places that, day after day, get it right.
The annual special quest
Annually, I pick a special quest & partner up.
One special quest. Once a year. A few good partners. A lot of random awesomeness to celebrate.

Alabama Communities
Beyond Huntsville, Birmingham, Mobile, and Montgomery.
This summer I'm reviewing communities across Alabama — especially the small towns, rural counties, and overlooked corners that don't get the same spotlight as the big cities.
In partnership with —
- FilminAlabama.com — supporting Alabama's film industry and mapping where its resources live.
- 57 North Hampton — a mental health advocacy nonprofit working to improve Alabama's mental health landscape.
— Community video reviews —
Short, detailed reviews of every Alabama community I visit.
Unlike my regular five-star posts (one place, one review), summer-quest video reviews cover multiple stops across one community. New episodes drop weekly once the next quest begins in June 2026.

Every stamp. Every detour. Every place that earned the visit.

— A formal request —
Know a place that has earned it?
If your library, community space, or local haunt deserves to be on the quest map, send me a note. I'll come — quietly, as a regular — whether they want me to or not.
